- I have had a lifetime interest in the martial arts and combat sports. For more than 60 years I have been a student and instructor of numerous combat systems (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Boxing, wrestling, and kickboxing) and I am always seeking to increase my knowledge of these fighting arts.I recently purchased this 32 page hardcover (Muay Thai by Tim O’Shei) book for a reasonable price on Amazon. This is the third book I have read and reviewed in the Capstone Press Children’s book series. Like the other books in this series the book has very limited information about the particular art and is more of a super brief introduction into these activities. The formats are all the same with four short chapters and color illustrations. The first chapter briefly tells about the beginning of Muay Thai. The second chapter explains preparing for the ring. The third chapter gives a short explanation of mastering Muay Thai and the final chapter discuses Muay Thai competitions. There is also a glossary, reading more on the topic and internet sites. As I have emphasized in the previous reviews of this series, this is not a “how to do” text but more like a short essay on Muay Thai. If a student has one lesson by an instructor in this martial art he already knows more than all the material in this entire 32 page text. This series is aimed at small children who may be interested in a very brief explanation of these arts.Rating: 3 Stars. Joseph J.
