Join in the fun and count down to a magical Christmas! Count all of the Christmas joy with this bedtime book, now in a sturdy format perfect for the youngest readers.

From Booklist

PreS.
From 10 tiny lights twirled around the tree, this cheerful holiday book counts down to one big, magical Christmas day for families to share.
The double-page spreads, with lots of gouache-and-colored-pencil images, may be too packed with detail for the intended audience, and the text begins with rhyme and then unaccountably drops it.
But with adult help, the lap-sit crowd will have fun pointing at all the holiday stuff, whether they spot the two jingling silver bells on Santa's sleigh or the nine wrapped, shiny presents.

  •     Counting Christmas is more than a counting book or a Christmas book; it offers teachers the opportunity to count backwards from ten down to one. Counting is one skill children learn from repetition but number sense where they understand what three or eight objects look like and how they relate to counting is another and more difficult skill that they need as a pre-math skill before they learn to add and subtract in kindergarten. This book offers a great way to read the text and have the children count on each page as the objects are pointed to by another child or the teacher.

  •     I agree with the comment that the book should be numbered counting forward instead of a countdown. Otherwise a delightful little book.

  •     My 15-month-old daughter and I love almost all Karen Katz books, and this one did not disappoint. When I ordered this, I thought I was getting the board book version, but this one is even prettier, and it held up to my daughter's dragging it around the house by random pages. This book was great to read during the holidays and helped my daughter recognize Christmas related vocabulary. We especially loved the dog and cat making an appearance on almost every page. I would definitely recommend this book. I would also HIGHLY recommend "Where is Baby's Pumpkin" which is my daughter's all time favorite book. It taught her all of the fun Halloween related vocabulary and made her so fond of pumpkins that we decided to let her keep the plastic jack-o-lantern in her room year round.

  •     Great book to go along with a pizza making toy set I bought my granddaughter. She'll be thrilled with on Christmas. Would buy from this seller again.

  •     Catchy little book. Wrapped it for my grandkids. Love how it counts items in preparation for Christmas.

  •     This book is designed for a very small child and it would have been nice if it had been counting up. My son was a little confused a first because he was used to hear 1,2,3...

  •     This is a very cute book that is sure to become a hit every Christmas! Love it!

  •     This is an adorable little book. My daughter is almost 21 months old and she enjoys this one as much as she does her other books by Karen Katz, which is a fair bit. We ordered the board book version, which is durable with colorful illustrations. It is a Christmas story that doesn't discuss any of the religious elements of the holiday, which may be a pro for some and a con for others, so I thought it should be mentioned. The only thing that is slightly irksome (for me, not my daughter) is that it seems to rhyme in parts, but not in others. It's so minor that it barely even warrants mentioning, though.

  •     My son loves math and counting and this is quickly becoming a favorite! The illustrations are fantastic and offer so much more to count than the story tells. My son loves this!

  •     So cute! Katz's books are just outstanding and huge faves in our house. My little girl loves all of them! She loves "counting down" to christmas and looking at all the pages. A perfect pre-xmas read with your little ones!

  •     We thought this book was cute and our daughter seemed to enjoy it. It is slightly irritating to read, however, because sometimes pages will rhyme and sometimes not - just wish it was consistent in that regard.

  •     My 21-month-old son absolutely loves this book! We've read it at least four times a night since I bought it a month ago. My husband and I wanted to start getting him ready for Christmas, and this book is a great start -- sweet holiday images, with the added bonus of counting fun! Highly recommend. One note: It's a storybook with paper pages, not a board book, so it's better for bedtime reading than for daytime play.

  •     we love karen katz & my 3 year old absolutely loves this book. i had packed it away with the christmas decorations last year & when i pulled it out the box this year he insisted we read it immeadiately and we have read it almost every day this holiday season. he has it completely memorized. the pictures are great.

  •     Awesome book for toddlers. its short and sweet with colorful pictures. the children at library story hour love it :D
