Content

The barnyard rooster crows and Jack wakes up -- hungry, of course! What does he want for breakfast? A big pancake! But first, Jack's mother needs flour from the mill, an egg from the black hen, milk from the spotted cow, butter churned from fresh cream, and firewood for the stove.
Will Jack ever get his pancake? With his trademark vibrant collage illustrations and a lively text, Eric Carle has created a mouthwatering tale for young readers.

  •     Great book, but it is VERY tiny. It fits in my palm.

  •     My 5 years daughter and I really enjoy reading this. It is so much fun :)

  •     Good book. BUT IT IS SOOOOO TEENY!

  •     I "read" this book to my kiddos before our Christmas pancake breakfast and then did a little math lesson as well. They LOVED it because they got to make up the story.

  •     Another great book from Eric Carle. Bought it for my grandson who orders pancakes from McDonald's instead of a happy meal every time.

  •     Just excellent! As Eric Carle's other works are. It is a great story teaching children where our food comes from and how much labor goes into producing the foods that we eat. The illustrations are very nice too. The text is smaller on the boardbook, too. That was a little surprise. But it is still a great book.

  •     Nice story, but the book is tiny therefore the print is even smaller.

  •     Love Eric Carle! This book is a little longer so maybe it's better for ages 3 and up.

  •     Way smaller than I realized, but unexpectedly cute.

  •     I think the description is accurate, but know that it's REALLY small. I'm not even sure why people would make books this small.

  •     Font is kind of small, pictures are kind of small. It's like they took the big book and shrunk it for Hobbits. I wish I had gotten the regular sized book instead of this little version. For the children I wanted to use it with as part of my job, it has too many words, too.

  •     I usually read this to 4 year olds who love it, but upon reading it last...I thought my nephew might enjoy it. He is not yet 2, but he loves reading, lists and cooking so I thought he might like this book. He LOVED it and would say "Mas (more) Pancakes?" It is a long story for a little one, but he had me read it 3 times in a row! It's fun to make pancakes after you read it.

  •     Fantastic book, fantastic author, fantastic artwork. I read this to my son almost every day! It is a favorite of his and Eric Carle does a great job letting readers know what goes on behind a pancake... They learn where all the ingredients come from which has also been fun for my 4 year old! This book is well loved in our home!

  •     A little boys wakes up with a longing for pancakes, and his mom is busy and so directs him to get grain, have it milled, get milk from the cow, etc in order to make the pancake. This a fairly long, detailed story that teaches kids where their food comes from through text and Carle's signature colorful artwork. I would recommend this for ages 3.5 on up. This is one of my four year old's favorite books, and he particularly loves learning about the grain being grind. This book is a great way for children to access the concept of farm to table. It's a bit long without much plot, but I've loved seeing how it has ignited my son's curiosity.

  •     This book is TINY. I didnt even make sure it was the full version before putting it back in the box to return it.

  •     I was surprised to get the book and know that the book is very tiny carryable-in-a-purse size. It is just stated as "hardcover", so I expected to get a normal size book, but it's not!!! I feel like deceived. I don't know what to do with this. How should I reed this teeny tiny book with my two kids?

  •     Arrived wet
